President's Message

President's Message

Professor Anamik Shah (President, ISCB)

President (ISCB)

Department of Chemistry,
Saurashtra University, University Road,
                              jkot – 360 005, Gujarat ( INDIA )

I am very glad to take up the responsibility of President of this prestigious body from April, 2010 with its rich pool of scientists from academic, research and industrial spheres. When I became President, I felt a sense of obligation to lead this organization with the same ideals that had been implanted into the organization by its founder. ISCB has taken its own place in the heart of scientific community of India. The ISCB members and well wishers from many countries now encompass not only India but SAARC countries and rest of world.

Indian Society of Chemist and Biologist, Lucknow is an unique organization of dedicated researchers, scientists, academician and opinion leaders which was founded  15 years  ago with a view to convene, sustain, support and extend the horizon of knowledge of several premier institute of India to the remote  places where quest for science & thirst for knowledge is the real want.

Our responsibility is to assure that this community builds on the best of what already exists in the field (and what is known about what exists), that it has access to the external expertise when it needs, and that systematic learning occurs about the problems confronted and the interventions attempted in response. In this latter regard, our goal is not to solve this problem in a few places but rather to orchestrate around the efforts of the network a common knowledge development and management system. Our goal is to ensure that whatever we develop and learn becomes a resource to others as this effort scales in subsequent years.

The scientific advancement in recent years has broken all boundaries not only geographical (national or international), but various disciplines of Chemical, Physical, and Biological sciences has also merged together to create several new subjects, areas of research, educations and technology. Today, the ivory tower of a chemist or a biologist has already shrunken and therefore one need to analyse very carefully the growth of science and technology on one side and the real need of human race for sustainable living & life style.

The role of Indian Society of Chemist and Biologist lies here to think of betterment of the last man of the society & also to ignite young generation to lead them to run in the forefront of various disciplines of science. We dedicate the full measure of our resources and abilities to advancing knowledge and technology in our professions. We are advancing science as we push the boundaries of existing knowledge and educate the next generation. Let us pledge to make ISCB more visible at every forefront of scientific, academic and research fields. May the wisdom of ISCB leadership reach many places in different part of country in the coming years!

Year 2011 is the year of Chemistry. Let all of us unite to agglomerate this wonderful science with rest of the branches & make the mother earth more beautiful by new innovations and strategies for clean and green technologies.
